This article, by Spencer Spellman at TutorialBlog, gives suggestions on how to effectively measure your success with social media marketing. As Spellman says in his post, social media is indeed the big topic of 2009. Twitter, Facebook, Digg, etc. – they are all part of the new dot-com-style boom. Since my company began its own social media marketing campaign, I’ve learned that you must have a strategy before you sign up and begin tweeting, digging, creating a facebook fan page, etc. Not all of the social media outlets are going to be appropriate for you or your business. Research is key – find out what the social media outlets are, what they do, and if and how they can help your marketing needs. Another important point to remember is that to be successful with social networking marketing, you must have patience, endurance, and a long-term vision. The success won’t happen overnight. But, when it does happen, it can be quite powerful.
